Job Description
TLC has two ESL instructor openings between Feb. 13 and Mar. 17 for intermediate level of international students from Japan. Each position teaches about 30 hours in about 4-5 weeks on campus.
Job Responsibilities
Teaching the class, organizing activities, grading weekly quizzes, and offering individual
feedback based on established material and syllabus;
Communicating with TLC Program Assistant and Academic Coordinator in a timely manner
on teaching, learning, and students;
Meeting with TLC Director of Education as necessary; and
Participating and helping students to get ready for the wrap-up ceremony.
Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have
A Bachelor’s Degree in English/Education/ Linguistics or other field in social sciences and humanities from an English medium university;
A TESL/TESOL/TEAL/CELTA certificate from a Languages Canada recognized institution;
TWO years of ESL teaching experience minimum in classroom settings; and
Expert fluency in English language.
Recommended Qualifications
Successful experience in the following areas:
Teaching ESL at intermediate to upper level;
Experience of teaching international students;
Cultural awareness and strong intercultural communication skills.
